Case Study: Custom Oversized White PE Cutting Boards for a Singapore Bakery
A bakery customer in Singapore needed oversized PE cutting boards for daily food preparation and baking work. The required sizes were 1800 × 750 × 30 mm and 1800 × 800 × 30 mm, both in white.
White was a practical choice for this application. Flour, dough residue, stains, and other surface contamination are easier to notice against a white cutting surface, making visual inspection during cleaning more straightforward. For a large preparation board used throughout the working day, that visibility matters more than simply matching the surrounding equipment.
The order was only three pieces, below our regular production quantity. After checking our available white material stock, we found suitable material and were able to arrange the small trial order without requiring a full custom production run.
What this project shows: color, quantity, and available material should sometimes be considered together. If a standard color already fits the application, checking available stock before requesting a custom production run can save both cost and lead time.
Customer Requirements and Project Expectations
The customer needed large white cutting boards for use in a bakery preparation area.
Standard household cutting board sizes such as 600 × 400 mm or 500 × 300 mm were not large enough for the customer’s worktables and preparation process. The new boards needed to provide a larger and more continuous working surface.
In addition to the oversized dimensions, the customer had several specific requirements regarding food-contact safety, surface texture, edge finishing, and overall appearance.
The customer expected the finished boards to be practical for daily bakery use, easy to clean, comfortable to handle, and suitable for direct contact with food.

1. Standard Cutting Boards Were Too Small
Common cutting board sizes such as 600 × 400 mm, 600 × 450 mm, 530 × 350 mm, 500 × 300 mm, 450 × 300 mm, and 400 × 300 mm are generally suitable for household kitchens.
However, they did not provide enough working space for the customer’s bakery preparation tables.
2. Difficulty Sourcing Oversized Food-Grade Boards
The customer needed boards up to 1800 mm long, while many standard cutting board suppliers mainly offered fixed household sizes.
The customer therefore needed a manufacturer capable of cutting large PE sheets into customized dimensions.
3. Specific Surface Texture Requirement
The customer wanted a fine grid-textured surface and provided a reference image.
A different surface pattern or excessively smooth finish would not meet the customer’s preference.

5. Small Quantity Below the Normal MOQ
The customer initially required only three boards, which was lower than the normal production MOQ for customized products.
This made it difficult to obtain a reasonable solution from manufacturers that only accepted standard bulk orders.

Large boards can be uncomfortable or unsafe to handle when the edges are sharp or unfinished.
The customer specifically required chamfered, smooth edges without burrs.
Our Custom Oversized PE Cutting Board Solution
After reviewing the customer’s dimensions, surface reference, application, and quantity, we recommended customized white food-grade HDPE cutting boards manufactured from large-format PE sheets.
Our production method allows large sheets to be cut according to the required length and width. Because both requested products used a standard 30 mm thickness, we were able to check suitable material availability and arrange the small trial order without requiring the customer to meet the usual MOQ.

After cutting the boards to size, the edges were chamfered, polished, and deburred. This created a smooth finished edge that was easier and safer to handle in the bakery.
